The project aims to develop and support local vegetable growing, which contributes to food security and support for people in communities, especially vulnerable groups. This is an opportunity for those with small gardens who are interested in learning how to use them effectively to support their families. The project provides participants with tools for efficient vegetable growing, educational support, and targeted financial assistance to enable participants to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
For 3 years, Ukraine has been experiencing challenges, which the effects of the full-scale Russian invasion have exacerbated. One of the most affected sectors is agriculture. Many factors hinder households’ ability to meet their basic needs. Household livelihood needs are multilayered and include access to basic resources (seeds, fertilizers, equipment, financial services). It has difficulties implementing innovations due to limitations in financing and access to quality extension services.
The project aims to remove key barriers and ensure sustainable community development. Our approach is based on a detailed analysis of the needs of households in the targeted regions, including an assessment of access to resources, social cohesion, opportunities for economic activity, and integration of vulnerable groups. Particular attention was paid to financial support for small farms, which are the basis of economic sustainability of local communities.
