Philea Forum 2025 in Portugal

Our Team Joined the Philea Forum 2025

This year’s forum brought together 845 participants from 44 countries and focused on the theme of balancing power and advancing equity in philanthropy — not as abstract ideals but as practical challenges faced daily by foundations, donor organizations, and civil society initiatives. At its core was the question of how philanthropy can not only mitigate the consequences of inequality but also address its root causes.

We had the opportunity to hear powerful insights from leading experts and representatives of civil society organizations and foundations from around the world. They shared compelling examples of how influence and resources can become tools for justice and equal opportunity.

Our director, Daria Rybalchenko-Vilna, took part in facilitating two sessions at the forum:

  • The first focused on failure as an organic part of innovation and change, discussing how to foster cultures where mistakes serve as a foundation for growth, rather than being silenced or stigmatized.
  • The second explored how equitable the voices of Ukrainian actors are — particularly those working in humanitarian response and recovery — within the context of international aid. The Ukrainian case served as a strong example: the war has made it clear that trust in local organizations and their meaningful involvement in decision-making is not optional — it is essential.

Philea Forum is a space for critical reflection and inspiration for us. It also reaffirms our belief that the Ukrainian experience must be heard — clearly and confidently — on the international stage.

We continue working to ensure that the voice of Ukrainian philanthropy is not only present but amplified.
