One key criterion for community foundations’ work is the engagement of local resources. This means the community receives support and becomes a co-creator of projects: residents participate in surveys and decision-making, while local businesses invest in socially essential initiatives.
This is precisely the purpose of the “1 to 1” grant program. Under its terms, the foundation raises funds within the community, and the National Network of Local Philanthropy Development matches the amount.
Already four grant applications have been supported for a total amount of more than UAH 280,000.
Who has already taken advantage of this opportunity?
Podilska Community Foundation + Youth Center “Kvadrat”
A corporate fund “Kvadrat” was created to develop youth infrastructure in Vinnytsia.
Boyarka Community Foundation
Launched a project competition with priorities in sports, active recreation, and psycho-physical recovery (based on a sociological study of community needs).
Community Development Foundation Future of Koropshchyna
Community surveys determined competition priorities: youth support in rural areas (spaces for culture and sports), veteran support, and preserving the memory of fallen soldiers.
Podilska Community Foundation + Barchuk Company
Created the corporate fund “Barchuk” to support young scientists. The initiative provides 10 scholarships of UAH 8,000 each to cover tuition fees, participation in extracurricular programs, or the purchase of research equipment.
The “1 to 1” program shows how community foundations can develop local initiatives and engage businesses and residents as co-creators of change. This makes communities more resilient, responsible, and self-organized.
Communities grow stronger when they unite resources!
